The word serigraph is associated with the individual artists’ creating multiple originals of their art.

Serigraphy is a fine art application of the screen print process. In silk-screen printing, the stencil, through which the paint is forced, is either blocked out by hand, or photo mechanically produced on silk or nylon.  A separate stencil is created for each color used in the work.

Among those artist who have made use of screen-print process as a vehicle for their creative efforts are French painter Henri Matisse; and in the United States, Andy Warhol, Corita Kent, and Roy Lichtenstein.
